Methanol
Property
Methanol is a colorless, clear and volatile liquid, with alcohol-like odor. It is soluble in water, ethanol, aether, benzene and other organic solvent. It is flammable with the existence of heat, fire or oxidant. Specific gravity (d204) 0.7915, melting point: -97.8℃, boiling point: 64.7℃, refraction rate (nD20): 1.3292, flashing point (in closed cup): 12℃, auto-ignation temperature: 436℃. Its vapor could for explosive mixture with air. Explosion limits: 6.0% ~ 36.5% ( by volume). It is toxic. Drinking 15mL may cause blindness and 100 ~200 Ml may cause death.
Uses
Methanol is widely used as basic organic chemical material and good fuel in the fields like fine chemical industry and plastic industry to produce formaldehyde, acetic acid, chloromethane, monomethylamine, methyl sulfate, etc., as well as feedstock for pesticide and medicine.
It conforms to national standard GB 338-2004, and is certified by national “measurement management”.

Packing, transportation and storage
Methanol for industry use should be packed in clean and dry containers, and should be well sealed.
Transportation should follow the regulations of transportation authorities.
Methanol should be stored in dry, well-ventilated, low-temperature area without direct sunshine and away from heat and fire.
Safety Precautions
Methanol is a colorless and flammable liquid. Its vapor is irritative to nerve systems. If breathed in, it may cause blindness and poisoning.
